Congratulations to VCC’s own Michelle Luce-Gilson for being recognized by Arkansas Money & Politics as an outstanding Woman in Construction!
AMP identified 21 women working in the fields of architecture, engineering and construction who are moving up the ranks and making significant contributions in these historically male-dominated industry sectors.
Michelle first got her feet wet (!) working for her family’s construction company as a concrete laborer – her career path seemed already paved. Michelle is a 4th generation construction professional, preceded by her great-grandfather, grandfather, father and mother.
Over the years, Michelle has worked as a laborer, certified payroll processor, surveyor’s assistant, project administrator, project engineer, claim documentation manager and scheduler. She has worked with companies such as Sundt, Balfour Beatty and Tutor Perini. She is thankful for each of those opportunities and what they contributed to her foundational knowledge.
Michelle began working as a full time scheduler in 2002 and by 2005, larger projects came across her desk. Notable projects include:
- Encore at Wynn in Las Vegas ($2.3Bn) where she managed the scheduling of the design and construction for all phases of the project.
- Tom Bradley International Terminal Expansion at LAX ($1.9Bn) where she managed the construction schedule for the concourses and boarding gates for a year and a half.
In 2015, VCC welcomed Michelle to our scheduling team and have watched her work her way up with us. Along the way, she picked up an AACE Certified Planning and Scheduling (PSP) credential to add to her list of accomplishments.
One of the things she loves most about her job is that every day is different. She’s always managing a schedule or two, but her workday may also include research, teaching scheduling skills and concepts, or working with VCC’s IT team to improve reports or features in our CRM, Endeavour. We’re proud of Michelle’s recognition by AMP and count ourselves lucky to have her on the VCC team!
